On the evening of January 23, the city will conduct a Point in Time (PIT) count to connect with and survey community members experiencing homelessness. The city's Homelessness Team is seeking 35 volunteers to help with the survey. The PIT count aims to get a count of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night. During the count, volunteers will be matched with trained staff to conduct interviews with individuals or complete observation forms for those who are not interested in completing an interview. After meeting at the New Britain building for training volunteers and staff will drive to their survey location. Volunteers must be available from 5 to 9 p.m. on January 23, 2024. Everyone who volunteers for this opportunity will be required to watch the 7-minute training video to register. Additionally, volunteers should plan to attend one of the virtual training sessions.
