A Season of Chaos: Wildfires in Boulder

 01/14/2021  |  07:00 PM - 08:00 PM
Virtual location (from home)  |  Registration Required

Soon to be long remembered as the year of the pandemic, 2020 was also one of the worst wildfire seasons on record. Join OSMP Ranger Dave Gustafson for a virtual gathering as he recaps the season and introduces you to the tactics and training of wildland firefighters. You’ll be speaking like a pro after you learn what it means to “dig line,” how to protect a home, and what resources are available to defend Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks from devastating wildfires. Registered participants will be sent a link to the virtual meeting space prior to the program start date.

David G - Education: Naturalist

Hello: I've been here as a Ranger for 19 years and worked for 6 years for the National Park Service. I have taught for environmental centers at the University of Georgia, the University of Wisconsin and for Red Rocks College. Having given over 1000 programs and having a bachelors degree, are also two of my accomplishments. Even with extensive experience in Law Enforcement, Fire and Search/Rescue I love to teach! Wow! Is that a real ground hog in that picture? I look forward to meeting you!
