WHAT: National Public Lands Day 2023 WHEN: Saturday September 23, 2023 – 8am – 4pm PROJECT: Join a City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks trail crew to help construct a sustainable reroute of the Saddle Rock Trail! PROJECT DIFFICULTY: Difficult. This project site requires a over a mile approach with elevation gain. Once on the project, volunteers should be comfortable hiking over steep, uneven terrain off trail and steady balance while working on extremely steep slopes. PARKING/REGISTRATION: https://bouldercolorado.gov/trailhead/realization-point PREPARATION FOR THE DAY: --Three quarts of water & snacks --Sturdy shoes or boots (No “five-finger” types of shoes, sandals, etc.) --Rain jacket. --Personal first aid kit, if you have one (OSMP will have a group first aid kit.) --Backpack to carry personal items. --Sunglasses, hat and sunscreen. --Clothing appropriate for weather conditions. Dress appropriately for Colorado weather and to work in an outdoor setting off trail. If volunteers come unprepared, you will not be allowed on the project site.
