Plants & Wildlife

Explore Boulder’s vibrant tall grass prairie ecosystem, at the peak of its autumn brilliance. Join OSMP naturalist Jenny Natapow as we wander through a dazzling array of colorful native grasses and learn about one of the most endangered ecosystems on earth. Our explorations will also include an excursion through a black-tailed prairie dog town. We will sit and observe the wonder and excitement of a bustling prairie dog town, while bearing witness to their complex and highly evolved form of communication, predator evasion and community creation. Through experience and observation, we will learn how these remarkable family-oriented rodents are keystone species and play an essential and vital role in prairie health. Come join us! Meet at the South Boulder Creek trail access point on Marshall Road (just off Hwy 93, immediately south of Boulder). Map search 870 Marshall Road, Boulder, CO. Free parking is available along the public road.
