After a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, we would like to explore reforming the Columbia Cemetery Conservation Corps. The group formed in 1999, and has been the recipients of the Community Service Award by the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association, as well as the Betty Chronic Preservation in Action Award by Historic Boulder. Columbia Cemetery evolved into a shining cultural treasure in large part from the efforts of the CCCC. We’d like to start reconvening the group to build community, and continue the great work. On August 19th,from 9am-12pm, we will host our first event. Flower bushes that have been overgrown like lilacs and suckers need to be pruned back which will help open up space and beautify the cemetery. We hope to see you there! What to wear: As you know, Colorado weather can vary greatly throughout the day so please dress in layers - we will be working outside all day with limited to no access to indoor space, For your safety, please wear close-toed shoes to this volunteer project. Long sleeves and long pants are recommended.
