Wabi sabi is the Japanese aesthetic that recognizes and values beauty in the passage of time, the simple, humble, and authentic. It is a state of mind arising from isolation in a serene and peaceful setting. Take a walk through the forest on Flagstaff Mountain to experience the emotions of wabi sabi as we seek out scenes and objects that speak of impermanence and the "seasoning of time and elements." Then express your inspiration through creation of a wabi sabi artistic piece in a medium of your choice. Materials for collage and construction of a paper journal will be provided, but feel free to bring your personal art supplies. This location is wheelchair-accessible.
