Come along on a journey back to the Ice Age. Thirteen thousand years ago, mammoths lumbered through Boulder’s cool deciduous forests and humans hunted now-extinct camels and horses along the Front Range with beautifully crafted stone tools. Those tools, and remnants of the vast Ice Age forests, still exist in Boulder today. Join an OSMP staff to visit one of Colorado’s last remnants of the Ice Age Forest. This will be an easy-moderate hike on uneven uphill terrain into one of the City’s Habitat Conservation Areas, a location so fragile the group size will be limited. Hike Details: This will be a 1.4 mile hike with 400 feet of elevation gain over uneven, sometimes slippery terrain. Parking and Special Considerations: Please arrive early as parking may be difficult in the area. Additional parking is located 0.14 miles from the trailhead at an OSMP maintenance building. Please do not block any gates or entrances. If there is lightning in the area, this program will be cancelled. Please check your email and www.naturehikes.org before the program.
