Join Education & Outreach Coordinator, Casey Bries, in reviewing Green Deen: What Islam Teaches about Protecting the Planet in which Ibrahim Abdul-Matin draws on research and scripture to better understand the connections between Islamic teachings and environmentalism. This month’s discussion will focus on the following prompts: · How is global consumption connected to our belief systems? · In what ways can religion and spirituality help us understand how to be stewards of the earth, move toward justice, and live in balance with nature? · How can we mobilize religious and spiritual institutions in the fight against climate change? Outdoors for All Reading & Discussion Series: Celebrate diversity in the outdoors and transform your perspective through environment-focused literary works by, for, and about people of historically excluded identities. Each month, OSMP staff will choose a book that supports deeper understanding of how environmental policy and land management can be used as tools to drive social change. We will gather virtually the fourth Monday of each month to discuss the reading and share ideas for creating community and building a more equitable and resilient future for our public lands. Participants are encouraged to read each month’s book, but all are welcome to join the discussion. All titles will be available as free-to-access e-books through Boulder Public Library (boulderlibrary.org). SHOP LOCAL! Prefer a hardcopy? Order this title from Trident Booksellers , Boulder Book Store , or check out one of Boulder’s local used book stores.
