Shadows of Open Space and Mountain Parks: A Flatiron Freddy Groundhog Day Prelude

 02/01/2021  |  07:00 PM - 07:45 PM
  Virtual location (from home)

Ground Hog day is just around the corner! Get ready with this family slide show by Ranger Dave Gustafson. Learn the history of Ground Hog day and all about our resident prognosticator, Flatiron Freddy. Find out how outer space has something to do with this celebration and why groundhogs can never see their shadow in Colorado. We'll also explore other rodents of city open space. All this culminates with a fun activity that will help you identify rodents just by their shadows! Registered participants will be sent a link to the virtual meeting space prior to the program start date.

David G - Staff: Rangers

Hello: I've been here as a Ranger for 19 years and worked for 6 years for the National Park Service. I have taught for environmental centers at the University of Georgia, the University of Wisconsin and for Red Rocks College. Having given over 1000 programs and having a bachelors degree, are also two of my accomplishments. Even with extensive experience in Law Enforcement, Fire and Search/Rescue I love to teach! Wow! Is that a real ground hog in that picture? I look forward to meeting you!
