CANCELLED - White Rocks from a New Perspective

Your Land

Release your inner artist inspired by the wonders of the beautiful array of habitats found at White Rocks. Shed the pressures of everyday living and experience the sights and feelings of changing seasons through the lens of wabi sabi, the Japanese esthetic that recognizes and values the passage of time. On this 2-mile walk OSMP volunteer naturalist Jane Larson will introduce you to the unique and varied aspects of these treasured OSMP lands. The last hour of the program will be dedicated to the expression your wabi sabi inspired artistic creation through any combination of drawing, collage, watercolor, photography, illustrated haiku or whatever manifests through you. Please bring your personal art materials as, due to Covid restrictions, materials cannot be shared. Bring water and food as well as binoculars and sun, rain and mosquito protection, long pants, gaiters to minimize the spread of invasive species, and sturdy boots for walking off-trail are recommended. Please note there are ground nesting wasps where we will be walking. If you have been on a White Rocks hike before, please let others who have not had a turn register first. Due to the Covid-19 virus, we are stressing safety protocols for all hike participants. Group sizes will be limited, and you must register beforehand to attend. Note: If you have not yet taken the required “OSMP COVID-19 Safety Protocol for Programs," you will be automatically directed to take that course when you log in to register. Click “Start” to go to the course page and scroll down to click “Start” again to begin the course. It should take about 5 minutes to complete. When you’ve read and clicked through ALL of the course pages using the “Next” button, you will be brought back to the general “Courses” page. Return to this registration web page, and click the Registration link and click “Register” again to be added to the roster.
