Climate Action - One-Day Volunteer Projects - Youth (11+) and Adults

Climate change is a serious global challenge that will have profound impacts on human and natural systems. OSMP is proactively managing these systems to withstand and adapt to the effects of the changing climate, relying on data driven science and actions through carbon sequestration along with cultivating resilient habitats. Collecting native seed helps to restore lands affected by wildfires, natural disasters, and invasive plant species. Sowing native seed results in diversifying our natural and agricultural lands which makes them more resilient to climatic changes, pests, droughts, and improves various ecosystem services such as pollinator habitat, carbon sequestration, water storage and filtration. Diverse plant communities serve as the foundation for healthy landscapes and contribute to well-functioning ecosystems.
