Living in a fire adapted ecosystem offers wonderous beauty and unique experiences. On this two-mile hike, join OSMP Wildland Firefighters to the 2022 NCAR fire’s ignition point and hear stories from the front line. Connect to this amazing area and learn how proper wildfire mitigation, land management, and emergency response led to this fire breathing new life to the landscape. Program details: Meet at the Devil’s Thumb Access Trail off Bear Mountain Drive. Please bring at least 1L of water and layers appropriate for the weather. While this is a spring hike, we may still have snow and ice on the trails, please bring a form of metal traction devices. Don’t own traction devices? No problem! OSMP will have extras to borrow.
