Join naturalist Debbie Cushman for an adventure back in time and discover the history of the homesteads and their dwellers in the South Boulder foothills area. We will explore the remains of some properties as well as the still standing historic cabins and hear tales of old on our journey, including the tale of the deadly feud between the Dunn and Brammeier families. This is a strenuous 5.5 mile loop with approximately 900 feet of elevation gain starting from the South Mesa Trailhead. Please bring at least 1.5 liters of water and a snack and wear sturdy shoes or boots. We will need to stay at a quick pace to finish our loop! This trailhead is a fee parking area. If you do not have Boulder County license plates on your car, there is a $5 cash fee collected at a self-serve station. It is also a popular trailhead so arrive with ample time to find parking. Additional parking across Eldorado Canyon Dr. at the Doudy Draw Trailhead as well.
