Recreation & Skills

Looking for a New Year’s resolution? Take on OSMP’s Trail Challenge! Join OSMP's Recreation Coordinator, Dakota Anderson, as he introduces you to the Trail Challenge, helps you design your own, and gets you started on your new project. This hike will have us exploring the Homestead and Towhee trails while learning about the history, geology, and ecology of the area. This hike is a 3.25 mile loop with 560ft of elevation gain. Expect some sections of rocky and steep terrain. Meet at South Mesa trailhead (a $5 cash parking fee is required for vehicles not registered in Boulder County). Please bring layers appropriate for the weather, at least 1L of water, proper hiking footwear, and metal traction devices (OSMP will have extras on hand). Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 case in Boulder County, we are stressing safety protocols for all program participants. It is recommended that all participants wear a face covering for the duration of the program unless eating or drinking, and we ask that unrelated groups and participants practice physical distancing.

Maximum Participants: 25
