Join OSMP naturalist Jenny Natapow on a wild adventure! We will venture deep into the ponderosa pine ecosystem searching for signs of the elusive Abert’s squirrel. Through hands on learning, children will discover for themselves where the Abert’s squirrel plays, sleeps, and eats. The duff holds a treasure chest of signs just waiting to be unearthed by young minds and curious fingers. This adventure includes a moderate two-mile hike, hands on learning, discovery, nature play and a sit spot in the forest – we will sit quietly in the woods for 5-10 minutes eyes peeled and senses heightened, hoping to catch a glimpse of an Abert’s squirrel. Every hike in the monthly Ranger Paula Wild Adventure series focuses on a different exciting topic. Attend two of these programs and kids are well on their way to completing their Ranger Paula Passport and earning a patch for their backpacks. To receive your patch, submit a completed passport to the Ranger Cottage and take the Ranger Paula Oath of Stewardship! Remember to bring: a lunch and snacks, water, clothes and shoes for water play, sun protection, and your sense of adventure!
