The Flatirons serve as the iconic backdrop of Boulder and the centerpiece of Open Space & Mountain Parks. These striking formations have attracted scores of adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts for generations. Join OSMP Recreation Coordinator, Dakota Anderson, to get up close and personal with these majestic rocks. This moderately strenuous hike (2.5 miles, 900 ft elevation gain) will take us to the base of the first 2 flatirons as we explore the history, geology, and culture that encapsulates these Boulder icons. Meet at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage. This time of year brings unpredictable weather, please bring layers appropriate for the weather, at least 1L of water, and proper hiking footwear. Expect sections of rocky and steep terrain.
