One-Day Volunteer Project - Youth (8+) and Adults

Volunteer with us for a seed collection project. We will be incorporating CDC/WHO guidelines along with the state of Colorado standards for precaution against the spread of COVID-19. Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) uses native seed in restoration efforts that are essential to the health of native plant diversity. OSMP Ecologists, Lynn Riedel and Eric Fairlee will teach volunteers how to identify native plant species and collect seed. They will also identify wildflowers and other native flora during the project. Volunteers will learn how to take their time collecting native seed to assure the least amount of weed seed enters the collection bags. Closer to the project date our OSMP Ecologists will be busy scouting sites that best fit the group size to assure there is a viable seed bank for the species. If the seed bank is low, we may need to find another species to collect from, or possibly cancel. Project day logistics will be sent two - three days before the project. Thank you, for your flexibility volunteers!
