Plants & Wildlife

Celebrate Ground Hog day with Bird Watching! Do all the best birds fly south for the winter? No way! Some of our most beautiful—and comical—residents stay here all year long. Naturalists Dave Sutherland and Jenny Natapow will lead a kid-friendly winter bird watching expedition on Enchanted Mesa so you can meet these little feathered marvels (and maybe an Abert's squirrel - who knows?). Bring binoculars, bird guides, and dress for the weather. Please bring strap-on traction for footwear (e.g. micro-spikes or Yak-tracks) since the trail may be very slick and icy. Meet at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage for an easy walk around Enchanted Mesa. Please leave dogs at home. Suitable for all ages.
