One-Day Volunteer Project - All Ages

Make your pup proud, and Let’s Doo It! We need your support to take care of OSMP through the “DOO-ing it” campaign! An estimate of 80,000 pounds of dog waste is left behind on trails annually and is the #1 complaint in terms of dog management on OSMP. Dog waste contains nitrogen and phosphorus, which can deplete oxygen to fish and other water-based life that need to survive, along with encouraging the growth of harmful algae blooms. Please pass on the importance that leaving bags of dog waste on OSMP trail systems is considered littering and we ask that as visitors of this beautiful and special place – that you bin or pack it out by following the basic Leave No Trace ethics when recreating. OSMP staff will place a bright orange flag wherever there is a dog waste bag or dog waste within proximity of the trailhead. We are asking for your help to clean up dog waste…yuk! So, with that in mind, we are going to make this a fun and interactive couple hours for you and your furry friend. When we see owners picking up their dog’s waste, their pups will be gifted a custom-made bandana with the “Let’s Doo It” campaign and city logo. (Along with free water bowls and poo bag canisters.) While volunteering your best bud can wear the gifted bling with pride that their guardian is a proud OSMP Stewarded and responsible recreator that practices Leave No Trace ethics! Yes, that is correct, your dogs can join this volunteer opportunity and please note that volunteers will abide by OSMP dog Voice and Sight along with leash Rules and Regulations that apply to each trail/trailhead.
