Celebrate the full moon with a journey into the world of the great horned owl -- a powerful and mysterious nocturnal predator. Naturalist Dave Sutherland will guide you into the darkness on this easy nighttime hike in the moonlight, suitable for all ages. Dress warmly and bring gloves. Please bring a headlamp and strap-on traction for your footwear (e.g. micro-spikes or yak-tracks) since the trail may be very slick and icy. This hike is free but limited to 25 participants. Meeting location provided in your confirmation email when you register.

CancelDave is an award-winning field naturalist and interpreter who served 24 years with Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks, retiring in 2020. He still leads nature hikes on birds, bugs, rocks, flowers, gardening with native plants, stars, local history and much more. Dave has guided education programs in Idaho, California, Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands. He is a natural science geek who uses games and activities to inspire others with his love of nature.
