Journey through the prairie landscape of Jewel Mountain, one of OSMP’s more remote, diverse and resilient prairies, normally closed to the public except on staff-led hikes. Plant ecologist Lynn Riedel and naturalist Lynne Sullivan will guide you through an in-depth exploration of this globally unique and rare habitat. Dress for a flat but rocky off-trail hike through the grasslands, bring water and snacks and layers as the wind can really fly across this landscape, which is mostly flat, despite its name. This hike is free but limited to 15 people. Meeting location to the south of Boulder will be included in your confirmation email.
